Chiaroscuro is an investigation of light, shadows, and temporary self-expression. Participants interact with a series of walls covered in a phosphorescent material by writing with lights and casting shadows with their bodies. A countdown timer signals when an overhead light will strobe, which erases the existing drawings and creates sharp shadows that future drawings can interact with. The work was a collaboration with Lydia Jessup, and exhibited in a pop-up alley art show called ACTIVATE Chicago attended by thousands of people.
